From its origins in the 1960's, (as Market Bosworth Sports and Social Club), the Market Bosworth Sports Club is a completely non-profit organisation that aims to promote and provide facilities for sport, recreation and leisure time activities for the communal benefit of adults and children of all ages from Market Bosworth and the surrounding villages - hence our Club motto:
"Fostering Sport for Everyone"
Managed entirely by volunteers from the local community, anyone is welcome to become a member of Market Bosworth Sports Club - either via one of the Member Clubs or by a small annual subscription - download an application form here or contact us for further details. The Club's elected committee meets regularly, together with representatives of the member clubs, in an effort to maintain and enhance the Club's role in providing sports and leisure facilities for the benefit of everyone in the local community.
The Club's primary asset is the 8.4 acre sports ground on Wellsborough Road - purchased from a local farmer in 1983 following a successful community fund-raising campaign and with the help of donations and grants from both local and government bodies and organisations. In 2012, the sports ground was dedicated as a Queen Elizabeth II Field in Trust by the National Playing Fields Association to commemmorate Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee, and is therefore a protected asset.
As trustees and custodians of this valuable asset, the Sports Club has recently made considerable improvements to the ground and was then awarded major funding by the Premier League & F.A. Facilities Fund, with added support from Sport England and the Dixie Educational Trust, to help provide a superb new Clubhouse to replace the ancient sectional concrete pavilion (which was well over 40 years old). The new Clubhouse also provides an excellent Community Function Room with kitchen, servery and licensed bar facilities - something that was much desired but always lacking from the old pavilion.
